2018 Bell Ringing Sign Ups Open to the Public

LA CROSSE – The Salvation Army is once again asking for the community’s help by spreading Christmas cheer.

On Saturday, November 10th – The Salvation Army will kick-off its bell ringing portion of the 2018 Red Kettle Campaign. The Campaign raises approximately one-third of The Salvation Army’s annual budget, funding various daily, monthly, and seasonal programs such as the Emergency Shelter, Meal Program, and even one-time services such as the Emergency Canteen response to the flooding in Vernon County. In 2017, nearly $800,000 was raised. This year, The Salvation Army has set a goal of $850,000 to meet the needs of La Crosse County.

Throughout the Campaign, The Salvation Army of La Crosse will rely heavily on volunteers to fill more than 3,400 bell ringing shifts at 24 different sites in La Crosse, Onalaska, and Holmen. Each shift is two hours long and falls between 10:00am and 8:00pm. There are also limited bell ringing opportunities in West Salem and Bangor.

Bell ringers can sign up for shifts by going to www.SAlacrosse.org or by contacting The Salvation Army’s Volunteer Coordinator: Alex Riley (P: 608-782-6126 x226 E: [email protected]).

New to this year’s bell ringing calendar is a free and open to the public pancake kick-off breakfast set for Friday, November 9th from 7-9am at the Onalaska American Legion. Brenengen Auto Group will also help The Salvation Army with a special opening day match up to $15,000 on November 10th. More details on both events to follow.

Bell ringing runs through Monday, December 24th. The Red Kettle Campaign as a whole runs through January 31st, 2019.
