The Salvation Army of Hancock Continues To Assist In UP After Severe Flooding
Hancock, MI (July 5, 2018) – The Salvation Army continues to assist in the Upper Peninsula after heavy rainfalls caused flooding and severe road damage in Houghton, Ontanogan and Keweenaw Counties the weekend of June 16.
Here is a breakdown of what has been provided so far:
Sunday, June 17
- Make arrangements for Canteen from Marquette, MI (4 person team from Marquette)
- Make arrangements for Flood Clean-up Kits
- Make arrangements for donations of water and food
- Prepared staff and building for Emergency Disaster Relief mode (Distribution of personal kits, flood kits, drinking water and food pantry bags, started June 17 to present)
Monday, June 18
- Canteen arrived from Marquette
- Canteen served 125 lunches and 125 dinners to emergency response crews (7 person crew)
- Houghton City Hall
