LA CROSSE – Various businesses and organizations are collaborating with The Salvation Army of La Crosse County to host the Red Kettle Campaign’s fourth ‘Match Day’ in 2018.

On Saturday, December 15th – 17 businesses and organizations will match a total of nearly $25,000 throughout La Crosse County for the 2018 ‘Community Match Day’.  On the day, each business or organization will match a specific kettle site’s donations.  2017’s ‘Community Match Day’ raised a total of $31,664 not including match dollars.

“Dollars aside – businesses, organizations, and individuals are coming together for the greater good of helping people in their communities,” said Nick Ragner of The Salvation Army. “These businesses and organizations are giving our supporters the chance to double their impact.  One bed for a homeless individual turns into enough to cover a weekend stay.  Four lunches for a single mom and her three kids turns into meals for tomorrow.  These special matching gift opportunities are crucial for those we serve.  We are so grateful for the businesses and organizations that are stepping up to make it possible.”

Participating sponsors include: Borton Construction, DuraTech, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, the Glendenning Family Foundation, Harter’s Quick Clean-Up, Inland, Kaplan, Logistics Health, Inc., Pischke Motors, Stifel, Tibesar Appraisals, Trane Company, Tri-State Ambulance, TRICOR Insurance, Wichelt Imports, Wieser Brothers Construction, Wisconsin Insurance Center, and Xcel Energy.

A voluntary running group will also hold the ‘Santa’s 2018 Kettle Run’ at 10am during the ‘Community Match Day’.  The group will start in the parking lot across from Schmidty’s in La Crosse and stop at 4 kettle sites during the run to make donations.  The event is open to the public.  Any interested runners are asked to dress in festive attire.  The distance of the run is approximately 7 miles.

The Red Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army’s largest fundraiser throughout the year and accounts for approximately one-third of the annual budget.  Campaign contributions help fund various day-to-day services provided by The Salvation Army including the Emergency Shelter and Meal Program.  Red Kettle Campaign dollars are raised through bell ringing, non-bell ringing donations, and mail appeal.  Bell ringing ends on Monday, December 24th.  Red Kettle Campaign fundraising closes on January 31st, 2019.

Bell ringing shifts are still available. To sign up or donate online, visit www.SAlacrosse.org.
