Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff at Blain's Farm and Fleet

Madison, WI (November 8, 2019) -- The Red Kettle Campaign begins Friday, November 8, 2019, kicking off at Blain’s Farm and Fleet on Stoughton Rd. from 10-11 AM. Donuts graciously donated by Dunkin' Donuts and hot coffee will be available, as well as the musical stylings of the local Salvation Army Brass Band. Only 20% of shifts have been filled so far despite a campaign total of ~23,000 hours. The Red Kettle goal for this Christmas is $600,000, the entirety of which directly supports the programs and services The Salvation Army runs year-round, including two homeless shelters, intensive case management, a medical and dental clinic for the under- or non-insured, a community center with summer day camp and after school programs, and chapel.

The need for bell ringers is great this year as the temperatures fall and the number of clients served rises. Cold Weather Nights have already begun in the Emergency Family and Single Women's Shelters-- nights where no one is turned away. As every hour of bell ringing can bring in approximately $60, enough to shelter a mother and child for three nights, The Salvation Army is looking to fill as many bell-ringing shifts as possible. With three Match Days on the horizon, the organization is hoping to fill every shift on those days as well as double each gift at the kettles. There are 63 kettle stand locations across Dane County, and with shifts ranging from 8 AM to 8 PM Mondays through Saturdays, there's a spot for everyone! Sign up at RingBellsDane.org.
