The Salvation Army’s Classic Kettle Campaign is Re-Branded
The Christmas Red Kettle Campaign will kick off at Metro Market with coffee, donuts, and a completely NEW bell-ringing volunteer website.

MADISON, WI – November 2, 2018

The familiar bells will chime once again beginning Friday, November 9, 2018 at the wildly successful bell-ringing site of Metro Market on Cottage Grove Road. This year, the bells will ring in the launch of The Salvation Army of Dane County’s NEW volunteer bell-ringing site, RingBellsDane.org. The rebranding of the classic campaign’s franchise will require all hands on deck to be sure over 15,000 shifts are filled.

A goal of $525,000 has been set, which Salvation Army staff say is necessary to maintain the level of services provided, considering the recent gas explosion in Sun Prairie, flooding in Western Dane County, and other situations in which the Emergency Disaster Services team has been called to respond.

“We have a duty to respond during times of emergency and crisis, which unfortunately has occurred multiple times in the past few months. But we also have a responsibility to maintain our shelters, case management services, children’s programming, and more,” said Captain Andrew Shiels, Dane County Coordinator.

He continued, “Ringing bells is the most simple yet effective way to help The Salvation Army help the Dane County community.”

The kickoff, beginning at 10 AM, will showcase The Salvation Army Band, “Donut Girls” depicting historical Salvation Army lassies known for passing donuts to soldiers on the frontlines, hot cider, and will offer cards urging people to visit the NEW bell-ringing website. The campaign is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Army, supporting programs such as DAWNS and Diversion.

The Christmas Red Kettle Campaign runs from November 9 through December 24, with shifts from 8 AM to 8 PM in most locations. For more information on Adopt-A-Kettle or individual ringing shifts, please visit salvationarmydanecounty.org or ringbellsdane.org to sign up.
