Volunteer Spotlight: Brenda Wilusz

April is National Volunteer Month and we are so excited to highlight our fantastic volunteers and thank them for their efforts all year long. Today we are shining the spotlight on Brenda Wilusz, a volunteer at The Salvation Army of Oshkosh for eight years. Learn more about Brenda's experience volunteering below!

Why did you decide to volunteer with the salvation army?

My husband, Ed, and I had been volunteering for a couple of years, and he called me one day and told me that The Salvation Army could use help that day, and I have been here ever since.

What events and programs have you volunteered for within the salvation armY?

  • Coats for Kids
  • Toy Shop
  • Pedal Out Hunger
  • Mail Carrier Food Collection
  • Lunch Program

What is your favorite part about volunteering with the salvation army?

Talking with people and hearing their stories.

What has been your favorite experience while volunteering with the salvation army?

Being inspired and encouraged by the faith and heart of some of the people served by - and serving - The Salvation Army. I often say I see Jesus in the faces of the people being served and serving here in this place.
